Riaan Van Zyl
I draw inspiration from everyday, ordinary concepts and aim to express my interpretation and understanding of the world around me, skillfully capturing their essence and significance with a unique perspective. While my work may initially appear abstract and perplexing, the outcomes possess a distinct personal style, rhythm, and arrangement.
They almost take on a dynamic performance rather than a traditional drawing.
I have showcased my art internationally and locally through 33 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions, with pieces featured in some of the most esteemed art collections worldwide.
My focus is on encouraging people to view ordinary objects from a fresh perspective. I enjoy experimenting with unconventional mediums such as old car oil and anthracite. The process of creating art, exploring new and traditional materials, and the underlying concepts behind my work are all aspects that I deeply appreciate, along with the actual presentation of the artwork.
